get properly pumped up. say some motivational stuff in the mirror, such as "I WILL skid today..." do pushups and situps, run in place, listen to some music. then hit the streets and do what you came to do and do it RIGHT! you can do it. i have faith in you.

Ok dude, I weigh about the same as you and it took me a little while to figure it out. Basically I found that if you're a bigger guy, obviously you more weight to unweight your back wheel. The solution? Lean WAY over your bars, more so than a skinny guy would. Your weight should be all over your front wheel on your bars and not in your feet much at all. My friend came over to my place who's smaller than me and he found skidding pretty easy and did a 20 footer with the first 15 minutes of him EVER riding a fixed. After a little practice though, I got it down as well. How much you weigh has nothing to do with it, it's all about how you distribute that weight.

48/16 = 3/1 The number of skid patches is the denominator.
Therefore, you have 1 skid patch, two if you're ambidextrous.
More info here.
And now you know. And knowing is half the battle!
The other half is getting your math right.
