so after i think ive got EVEYRTHING ready, i am having so much trouble getting this tire onto a wheel that i know for sure is size 700x25. i have eveyrthing i need and im pumping air into it and its just like bulging over the side of the wheel and i really think the tire is too big. is it too big or do i just suck at bikes

you suck at bikes. Make sure the tube is seated properly and its not folded anywhere along the wheel or it will do that.

ima take some pics when im done eating. idk man it really might be too big

if at first it doesn't work, try try again. i had the same experience when i changed my first tire. it gets a lot easier with practice.

1. put the wheel inside the tire
2. get ONE side of the tire attached to the wheel
3. get the tube seated in there properly
4. attach the other side of the tire to the wheel
5. inflate

what you want to do is have just the smallest amount of air in the tube when you install it so that you can seat it properly. What you do after you mount your tire and begin to air it up do it slowly so you can see if the tube is popping out of the wheel and you adjust as you go.

Your tube is kinked or not seated properly, hence the bulge. Try again with some help from park tools

i really dont think the tire fits, the tube is fitting perfectly but the tire itself won't tuck into the side of the wheel

Get it on as much as you can then slowly start "rolling" it with you hands.
Another option is to go to the library check out any bike repair manual and look up a proper technique.

As someone said get one side on completely then the other, the last bit will be a little tough to get on by just do it gradually. If you have a bulge in your tire try deflating a little bit then making sure the tube is sitting correctly then pump up again, it can be frustrating sometimes hence your thread title.

im really appreciating the help, and i tried taking a picture, didnt show too much, but seriously theres about a half an inch between the tire and the wheel once i have the rest of it compeltly tucked in, one part of it still sticks up that much

Rim size and tire size? Type of tire? Some tires can be a real pisser.

both (and tube) are size 700cx 25

Get a little soapy water between the tire and rim and see if that helps things...it shouldn't be this difficult or should it?

try a different tire. I believe you that it's too big and therefore will not give advice on how to put it on.

Double-check and make sure they didn't send you the 27" by mistake, the site lists that size as one of the choices..

yea well im bout to head down to the other LBS see what they gotta say.

I wonder if that will stops once she realizes you can't put on a tire properly.

found out some huge mistakes i had

1) the f$cking ****** at one of the LBS i was going to sold me a 700c wheel and a 27"" wheel and told me they were both 700c......
2) the tire i was trying to put on the 700c wheel ACTUALLY WAS size 27""


so at this point i basically have the wheel / tire business figured out. im probably going to make a new thread when my bike gets finished just so allt he people who ahve been helpign me out can see waht exactly i was getting help with

yeah i took my bike to this other shop, cycles de oro in greensboro nc to get some brakes put on, since i finally got the singlespeed wheel and evyerhting set up on the back, and the guy calls me like "yo u know ur front wheel isnt 700c, its 27" and im like WTF THAT UAIAGNKASGNJASGH and im just like furious because the shop who sold me the wheel set was being d!cks to me in the first place and so the guy at cycles de oro is super nice and replaces the 700c tire i squeezed onto the 27" wheel with a regular sized 27" tire, and im going to have a 700c wheel on the back and a 27" on the front, and i told the bike shop who sold me the stuff to F off


they said its going to be fine to have a 700c on the back and 27 on the front and wont really be any difference riding it and it won't look weird. opinions?

If she's a sales associate, then you might be looking too into it.

Did you buy the rear and front at the same time as a wheelset? If so, that's shady.

@ ^ haha yeah, i probably am. but the first time i went in she was supppppper nice and all my friends were like "wow nick shes totally hitting on you stop being a jerk" because i didnt even notice it, and then i went back like 3 weeks later and she was like "heyy!! wahts upp!! your the guy with the 72 collegiate!!" and even remembered the bike i had. idk.
