they're VP-396 track pedals, just for reference.

and i wish my hoods were in a flatter position too, but i have a thing for my brake levers to be just at that right angle..

How about... "What don't you like about my HYPOTHETICAL bike...."

This is what my bike would potentially look like if I buy the necessary parts to have a commuting mode for this build. The fenders, basket, and bars are all photoshopped in (but I already own the bars).

Any thoughts or criticisms?

Haha I am in the city. In Boston, and as of now in NYC. That pic was taken near where my parents live. And believe me, I'd choose the woods (actually more like the beach where that pic was taken) over the city any day....

Aside from the lack of foot retention, there's nothing to hate. That's a nice bike!

I recommend you get over it, once you do- you'll realize why.

Have faith in yourself, things take practice.

Agreed. foot retention is essential when riding fixed. Even when crossing the street, you can already have your leading foot strapped in, then if you need to, just ride on the bottom of the other pedal until it's safe for you to flip into your clip.

I don't see any need to cross the street anyway. If I just ride around the block, it's easier for mom to call me when it's dinner time.

I don't like the whole 'single cross lever on drops' thing that the kids are into, but I have a feeling it ain't going away.

Don't worry about aesthetics right now. Put your clips back on.

well, road levers are preferred but i do it because i have like 3 sets of handlebars i like to rotate through, so a cross lever lets me mount it on any of the bars without unwrapping tape or pulling cables out and risk fraying everything up.

Yeah that stem just looks cheap to me. When i see a rider on a fixed without foot retention i conclude he won't be riding much or going fast anywhere. It's dangerous, no fun, impossible without it. I feel like i would lose half my power if i couldn't pull up when climbing or sprinting. In fact forget about sprinting without clips, once slip and you're eating pavement.

10.5 pounds?... with or without the cranks, chainring, chain, brakes, cables, tensioner?

I wish you'd built it up as a road bike. Nice paint work if you did that yourself though. What's the frame?

You've never ridden a bike before?
