Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I think it's a great classic-looking bike. Obviously not for most people. For what you are getting (Reynolds tubing, Brooks saddle, nice bars, etc), the price seems fair. I'll bet it's not as heavy as you think.

Also, is that the North Road handlebar by Nitto, or some other "North Road"?

That is reversed North Road handlebar. I've flipped mine back right up - and yes, I have a Pashley Guvnor. However, it won't remain a path racer.

Very nice-- a little too gentlemanly for me, but otherwise I'd probably rock it.

Heavy? Yes.
Pricey? Oh yes.
But still cool. Pashley make postal bikes for Royal Mail. When my brother was a postie, I rode one. It was a blast!

I made a similar bike out of an old Raleigh Sprite, Brooks saddle, North Road bars, 27" rims. When you ride in that upright style, it's all about just cruising along, not about how fast you can go.
