Beat by a 12yr old

Was riding back from the LBS this morning (yay, new grips.) Anyway, came up on a 12 yr old or so kid on a old GT vertigo BMX bike. He was like, nice bike, blah blah. He asked me the no brake question, and seemed interested in the whole fixed gear thing. He was like, wanna race. So we took off, head to head for a few blocks, then he just took off like a shot. Looked back, gave me the finger, and said something like "FU you F'n hipster..." I about fell over I was laughing to hard. Anyway, the reason I'm posting this is... Anyone remember when they were a little kid riding around and never getting tiered or anything. Made me feel so old and out of shape (I'm not BTW, only 26 and am in better shape I have been my whole life.)

What filthy language for a little kid. I never thought of talking like that when I was 12, let alone to a stranger.

i dont get how he could pedal away from you on a bmx bike's ratio, but anyways. nice story thanks for sharing

ZiP0082 11-26-08 10:14 AM

He was obviously a poster from this thread.

My 12 year old son can outlast me on rides. But he has much more class and stern upbringing to disrespect anyone in that manner.

Ride Safe!

They sure as hell shouldn't recruit the OP. What gear are you running to lose to a bmx, even if being ridden by a sugar hyped 12 year old.

bigbris1 11-26-08 01:10 PM

I bet you little dude was rocking that bike side to side like almost horizontal when he sprinted away. Remember that?

mr_macgee 11-26-08 01:22 PM

Another hipster goes down.

cobrabyte 11-26-08 01:54 PM

12 yr old on a bmx knew to be THAT funny while going THAT fast? AND while going faster than you was able to flick you off while turning around to yell at you?....on a BMX?

i think someones pants are on fire

jdms mvp 11-26-08 01:58 PM

yelling at full tap, means he wasn't even trying while he smoked the OP. his lung capacity must be near big mig's

adriano 11-26-08 01:58 PM

are you from hanover by wilkes barre? what was the shop?

Yup, I just love making up stories to make my self look bad.... Whatever

If I was lying I would have said something like, I was super faster than him and made him cry...

Get a life

steveknight 11-26-08 02:01 PM

I had a couple of kids keep up with me at 20 mph for a couple of blocks.

cobrabyte 11-26-08 02:01 PM

it's called a joke dude

maybe if i was 12 you would think it was funny

No, south central PA, near gettysburg and york. Anyway, shop is Kesslers. Mainly a BMX shop, but has a good selection of just about anything. LBS I normally go to is Whites in Westminster. Great place, great people. Brad is one of the most intelligent, and fun people to talk to. Just don't get him on Fat City bikes, he'll talk your ear off for hours

ManlyDude69 11-26-08 02:35 PM

Zum1 11-26-08 02:49 PM

I would not have that... there would be hell to pay for that little 12 yo piece o' ish... what are you riding dude? whats your gearing... where 's your passion... where's your sense of pride?? I always say, the only thing in my life thats 12 years old and worth a god damn, Is named Glen... and comes in a bottle.
