Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

lol the fact that you said this leads me to believe that you didn't know who they were until you started riding a "fixie"

I'd doubt it will go farther. I mean, I can see it gaining a little momentum, but not a whole lot more.

I've been around the BMX scene for a pretty long time. I've attended and worked at camp Woodward West action sports camp for about 6 years now, and there are a lot of people involved in the sport at the pro level that I consider close to family. Granted, I'm involved with the skateboarding program, I work closely with all the bmx guys. BMX is progressing very very quickly. Quite faster than skateboarding, that's for sure. I'd be VERY surprised if "Fixie Tricks" can keep up with how quickly BMX has progressed.

anyways,

small frames...
one position handlebars...
platform pedals...

seems like except the fixed cog, track bikes that are meant for tricks seem like they're conforming to BMX specs... if it does progress, then the bikes themselves will probably end up being smaller, and more BMX like.

Sort of like how FBM makes a track frame now.

^^ case in point

eventually bikes will just get to beefy and "gnar" that they'll just turn into oversize BMX bikes

people say it's the evolution of one sport, it's not. it's imitation...imo it just looks goofy and dumb.

I agree with brandonspeck, I have a friend who rides bmx (who also has a pretty sweet japanese track bike) and he's been showing me a lot of bmx videos lately and Its deff progressed a hell of a lot since I used to skateboard and see guys at skateparks. I was taken aback that some of that **** is even possible.
