^.. The peripheral vison might be a huge safety factor.. Anxious to check out the price tag.. I'd hope they'd offer a variety of color tints. Not big on orange.

I never wear glasses or sunglasses. They always mess with my depth perception and stuff. I feel like this would be even worse and mess with my head really bad.

i never wore sunglasses till maybe 4-6 years ago. i'm super thankful that my eyesight has not deteriorated despite that fact. First week or so it was a little uncomfortable to my eyes, but now i wear em every time i drive.

This is a thread about cycling glasses. Very few people make their own glasses these days, so most of them will be manufactured by "huge corporations". Why don't you go into the pictures thread and whine about how we're all just shilling Leader, BD, IRO, Bianchi, Giant, etc.?

Cool dude. Nike cycling glasses. Probably worth all the 300 dollars or so. You're right. Nike is a great company. There's no way I could ride my bike without my NIKE brand cycling glasses. God, life was hard. I couldn't ride my bike at all. ANd then lo, and behold, NIke came along. Now I can see an extra 25%. Totally. Awesome. I love my NIKES! HELL YES.

maybe i just have a problem with Nike cashing in on every trend and people lapping it up? maybe thats the issue? maybe because everyone here thinks theyre counterculture and then talk about Nike sunglasses? maybe that's it? maybe people who ride with sporty sunglasses look like ******s? maybe thats it?

How 'bout this weather tonight? I'm on my way to a holiday party in Humboldt Park, and it's going to be an interesting ride what with the snow and the -15 temperature and all.
Anyway, I think those glasses are neat, but I'm going to hold off until the generic $5 version comes out.

Nice evolution from this.

In a way, yes. Actually a clip on mirror with a Fresnal profile would probably be super-effective and not stick out that much at all.
Remember... this is MY IDEA!!!
From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fresnel_lens
The Fresnel lens reduces the amount of material required compared to a conventional spherical lens by breaking the lens into a set of concentric annular sections known as Fresnel zones.
In the first (and largest) variations of the lens, each of these zones was a different prism. Though a lens might look like a single piece of glass, closer examination reveals that it is many small pieces. It was not until modern computer-controlled milling equipment (CNC) could turn out large complex pieces that these lenses were single pieces of glass.
For each of these zones, the overall thickness of the lens is decreased, effectively chopping the continuous surface of a standard lens into a set of surfaces of the same curvature, with discontinuities between them. This allows a substantial reduction in thickness (and thus weight and volume of material) of the lens, at the expense of reducing the imaging quality of the lens.

It's definitely an interesting idea though and I'd be curious to give em a try.
