it was an implied stereotype... there. it's been said.

Now can you all shut up about it, so I can stop puking? at least for the time being?

hammye 04-15-04 07:41 PM

Atheist? what if he meant atheist? What if he meant lizard like? What if he probably did not mean to piss any one off? What if I am just tired of this silliness?

dude, i couldn't understand that nonsense, the listing of religions, so i didn't understand initially... (plus furtive, at work, etc.).

So, i think it was very important and necessary that you called the sh*t out!

thx

Let me begin by saying I’m sorry. I did not mean to offend anyone, and I did not mean to imply any anti Semitism whatsoever. I apologize if I hurt anyone’s feelings.

I woke this morning with a million things to do , one being dealing with a four thousand dollar tax issue. Five major issues all came down today and I had to get them done before work, and I had a nasty hangover that made concentrating difficult, but I wanted to write a quick post about my day. So I wrote out the thing and did a quick proof read for spelling. I made a note to myself to change the line in question because it was vague and not my original intention. The line should have read: “She wasn’t Catholic, she wasn’t Jewish, she wasn’t Hindu, she wasn’t Muslim, she believed only in herself, if you catch my drift.” The phone rang and interrupted my flow and when I got back to the computer an hour later I hit “quick post” thinking I had finished when I’d forgotten to make the changes. I then left for work and came home just now to all of this.

I admit I’m no angel, I admit the city has made me mean, I admit to trying to provoke on occasion, but I never had any intention of implying the woman was Jewish or making anti Semitic statements. I’ve gone back and re-edited the text.

Again, I am sorry.

I'm not letting you off that easy Mayonnaise. Do not back down from your hatred of VillageCycleCenter. Embrace the hatred and focus it like a laser beam. jeff

I understood this to mean that this woman was a selfish and self-important person. The key words above are "she only believed in herself".

The quote and context didn't seem to be bigoted to me. Possibly I missed a hidden meaning.

I wonder if perpahs empharlskin is a closet hater of those who are jewish and did this as a subliminal hate attack.

You totally missed the boat dude. He re-edited. You probably didn't read the original.

He shoulda just said she was a fat ex-trixie.

SD Fixed 04-16-04 11:38 AM

He should have said what he did. I think the horse is dead, and beaten beyond usefullness for dog food.

My coworkers and I were just discussing dog food...

Although, on second thought, it is for dogs.

Everybody done?

Good, I thought so.

Sigh. You know, I set a standard for excellence, then, fail to achieve it.

I should be flogged.

did anyone mention the holocaust (aside from me, just now)? because in my mind, a flamewar hasn't really occurred until someone mentions the holocaust and/or compares someone else to hitler.

Mayonnaise 04-16-04 12:08 PM

I'd like to repeat from above, let's not let this woman have the last word. Instead please follow the red cross post from 165 and read the article on the Lost Boys Of Sudan. You'll soon be introduced to two of them and I'd like you to have a bit of background on their story. These young men are an inspiration.

Why is it no one compares anyone to Napoleon?
