hi im from the uk just started on fixed gear from bmx and i really dont know what pedals to get i think i want to get flats with straps any recomendations? preferably some that i can get from the uk. cheers x

Not without modification. The currently favored method seems to be running longer bolts on the toe clips and running the straps underneath those.

I'm using the Sylvan Track, but I find they're not ideal for soft-soled shoes, nor were they intended to be. The V-O pedals look good, have plenty of support, and could accommodate doubles without modification. Like I said, no personal experience, but maybe you're feeling experimental?

Wellgo ATB m20/21, light and cheap and works just fine. Comes under a lot of different names, like Forte ATB for an example.

I have doubles with GR-9. No mods, just longer screws.

i have doubles with gr-9s as well. all you need is longer bolts or just run singles. it would be cheaper

I love my wellgo pedals but have never used anything better. If you can't afford toshis or other laminated leather , you are better off going with vinyl instead of leather because leather stretches,

toshis wont stretch. toshis have nylon straps sandwiched between leather straps and this prevents stretch

doubles are basically two single straps connected. they are more comfortable and secure because the pressure is more distributed across more of your foot

Actually, Toshis aren't leather, laminated or otherwise. They're suede, which provides a better gripping surface for the clamps due to it's cushy surface, and as bmcginn indicated, the inner nylon layer prevents stretching.

I dig my Sylvans. They spin alot better than the GR-9s do (which really in practice doesn't likely make a ton of difference) and they bite into the soles of my shoes nicely providing a little bit of extra traction at the bottom of my pedal stroke.

And nylon pedals cost how much again? And how often are you likely to have to replace them over the next 20 years? And how much would it suck to find out you need to replace one in the middle of a hard stop? AFAIC Toshis are an investment, and a safety feature. I won't have to replace them for a good long time, and I have the peace of mind of knowing they aren't likely to snap on me unexpectedly.

To me, that's worth the $90 I spent on them. YMMV, but there's no reason to be condescending about it.

OK, now take a breath I mean you (or your Toshis) no harm dude but Ill tell you that I have nylon straps that came on two of my bikes that are pretty old and still going strong! Ones a '71 and the other a '73 I also have orig leather straps on two of my bikes (70's) that look as if they will snap at any moment! Just sayin'
