Lots of main roads with the neutral ground in between the lanes; makes making a left turn difficult but a pretty road. Great place for fixed gears, very flat city.
Traffic was pretty light when he made that video; he was on Canal Street, which is the main downtown drag.

He has many different videos that are all filmed in New Orleans. I didn't know that city was so beautiful (palm trees, blvds, and classic architecture) and so bike friendly. His technique of how to approach intersections from the left lane is good to know. Its funny how he passes a few cop cars and doesn't even try to obey the law.

"The lane of death and inconvenience"
HA! I don't know where you guys ride but that statement is so true about Chicago. The # of dip-**** ****-faces that could care less about anyone but themselves in this city is outrageous. You have to ride on this weird defensive/aggressive balance to make sure your not swept into a sea of taxis and granny peds.
I guess that the way any "tourist" city operates. But it weighs on you.

I have been a courier for 4 years and this pretty much sums up what I have learned to do. Nice job with the lane placement & the suggestion to sort of curve your path to maintain speed. Riding far on the right also makes it much harder to be seen by everyone. Oncoming traffic, traffic from an intersecting street, passing traffic, etc. Although I don't trust turn signals or the lack thereof. Maybe drivers are better about that in NO, but I've gotten into trouble a couple of times because a signal (or the absense of one) was misleading.
