I'm into the raw. Would like a frame only option.

oh, and i think the raw really only looks good without or with minimal stickers.

or maybe not do them in white.

How about a metallic glitter or candy coat over the raw frame. Very thin so you can still see the lug brazing but a nice candy purple, blue, or green.

Bikes: Pake. Black. Fixed.

Love the Raw... are you going to put it out as just a frame? I'll buy one of those!

For some reason that frame looks primered and doesn't have that naked steel look.

I had stripped my kilo as well a couple of weeks ago. It had bought it in green. The bare metal looked too much a like a poseur leader frame or something and it was hard to keep clean, so I opted with red paint.

Donno about bulk painting, but laying down metal flake is a pricey endeavor. A simple motorcycle tank (much flatter surfaces than a bike frame) will cost more than 90% of the bikes on this forum.

Laying even flake on round tubes would be hard, not to mention the many extra steps involved (primer, metalic base, flake+clearcoat, plain clearcoat, and all the finish work.

I love the raw idea. How soon could these get in? I'm interested in frame only though, as I think a lot of us are.

Guitar hardware always without fail looks amazing when nickel plated. It makes chrome look cheap and stupid. I have no idea why the bicycle world hasn't caught on.

I think this might be the right place to ask because the thread's new and it's about Kilos.

I was wondering if there is any chance that one would be able to purchase a Kilo without any of decals. I think I read somewhere that BikeIsland.com has Kilo framesets, but I'd like a built up bike without any decals.

Not feeling the RAW look of that Kilo, by the way.

I am happy to get all these comments
and the one above is spot on - 'custom' paints can be very expensive
A good 'flake' paint like you see on a custom redo of an old vette or 57 chevy would cost a ton

However, I like the idea of a good metailic or flake or something special on an undecaled frame
and I will get some RAW in small numbers to see how they go

Paints I can find that will not increase cost too much have names like:
JEWELED, GEM, GLITTER, LITEBEAM, CONFETTI, STELLAR, GOLDLIT, SILSAND, and SPLASH

some of these may have minimums or preimum prices outside our range; but all would include ranges of reds, purples, golds, blacks, blues, greens, oranges, browns, etc

so I will find something to do with the group of Kilo TT we get that are unmaked [HT decal only]

should be fun

Sounds cool. Will Bike Island be getting a raw set of frames also? I'm interested in a raw frame-- how long until either you or BI gets a set?

I like the look of the raw. The one thing I didn't like about my Kilo was the durability of the paint (for instance, I dropped my hex wrench when I was adjusting the saddle, and it nicked the paint down to the metal where it hit the downtube!) - if the sealant is going to be more durable, I would be into it.

Back on topic: I didn't know raw steel looks like that. I always thought it would have a more silver/brass/copper look to it.

I kinda like it! Makes it look "manly".
There's nothing new or really exciting about left side drive. The only challenge is swapping pedal spindles or threadlocking them.

DuraAce level sample on the way; but I do not want to order the production until I test the sample

So i am looking at July / August to get this bike in

It is clear that I should get both complete bikes and frameset
And that I should get some in RAW and some in Flake or some very nice special paint

It will take 4 months to get them in; just like all lead times these days

My wife thinks I should call the undecaled version in 'naked' look THE STRIPPER
and put on Gold trim bits; like cages on MKS style track pedals, chain, CR Bolts, etc

I might put a leather seat [taiwan knock off of B17] - but that would increase price by $50
might be something people would like - But I always like keeping prices down

Anyway, frames for sure
the ones we have in stock at BI now are selling like crazy

Thanks for all the input
