Now is 2011.
I noticed the full bike now comes with a moustache/gullwing bar, and not the dropbar as the previous year?
Surly is following the trends?

It also comes with wider tires 32's i think they're aiming more towards a commuter build this year.

very very nice! i have a question, any trouble with the omniums needing spacers to clear steamroller chain stays during install? just ordered them but after reading on sum fourms about crank spindles and ring clearance have second thoughts. any feed back would be great

The pic's kind of contrasty; it's the baked-bean version. Forgive the "trail-a-bike" attachment thingy on the seatpost. Pretend it's an exhaust pipe. And forgive the rear brake. I like stopping.

virgin beanroller

sitting here drinking coffee, rereading this long-ass thread for inspiration & considering what to do with this:

its been sitting in my garage since i bought it a few years back when i was in the throes of a "i prefer uncommon colors" phase. i always liked steamrollers & when i ran across this frame hidden in the corner of a local shop right after i'd heard that surly dropped their famous (or should i say infamous?) boston baked beans maroon, i just had to have it. of course i never got around to building it & have since developed a preference for more ordinary colors.

i wasted yesterday cleaning my garage instead of riding & i've grown sick of constantly trying to avoid marring this thing while moving it out of the way so...it is time to build.

but i am really stumped what to do???

since i'm no longer in love with this color, if i am going to paint it, now is the time to do it. but after all, weird colors & surly do kind of go together so maybe i should leave well enuff alone. i have enough ok stuff laying around that if i quit worrying about the painting, i could finish it pretty quickly but then i have to make another decision, black or silver bits? next that leads to choosing between...

eff it, i am going riding now

Yeah, for the most part barspins and drops don't work very well together.
