Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? The trusty Raleigh is all spruced up, so I took the photo-op. A tinge of C&V...

You guys with such low handlebars, does that get in the way of turning your heads to look backwards at traffic?

Where did you find those toe clips? I have pedals just like yours, but I'm having a hard time finding toe clips for them.

Nice bike, by the way. I love that three-bolt crankarm.

i used to ride a tt bike on the street (uncomfortable as **** for more than 3 miles and a backpack lol) but the extreme drop meant either sit up no handed to look (which i usually did when i was cruising) or look under your armpit upside down, which made looking for traffic a bit surreal.

i still do the armpit thing if i'm running my track drops on my conversion (but i mostly run bullhorns now)

Thanks for all the kind feedback!

luna: I bought the pedals as a complete set from JensonUSA. A really budget pair of Wellgos if memory serves.

Noobert: The bars are from a salvaged 3-speed, simply flipped and wrapped. Technically speaking, they're North Road-style:

I'm not doing "it" at all. I don't have low handlebars, and I find that I prefer low handlebars when I'm in heavy traffic.
