Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Those wheels are whatever I had lying around! They are all tubulars, ranging from 15 to 40 years old. The SS is a conversion of an early 1970s French Mercier 10 speed, and if you think it looks dirty and rusty now, it was a lot worse when I got it a week ago. Seems like it had been in a barn in Michigan for the last 20 years. I fashioned the SS freewheel using parts from an old Suntour Winner multi-speed freewheel.

Thanks for the compliment.

From the Alien gb awhile ago, just got around to finishing up my bike. I apologize for the poor setting and wrong side photo, but we had just finished and I wanted a picture of it immediately.

Spokes are normal except are twisted around each other.

You would need to build it or have someone build it... expect to pay extra for this.

Vaguely reminds me of a school girl uniform with long, white socks.

Did you use to have drops, or is the top tube bumper just for looks?

The "ring" is a bumper for when you use drops. Totally unnecessary with those bars.

Agreed with the bar ends. Thinking about doing some experimenting of my own with some of those cheap Nashbar dealies.

pedalpedalpedal:
The frame is an Erba, which is a keirin builder who is unfortunately no longer making frames. I've seen a few others around, but not many. The guy who made them has since moved on to making steel sculptures. Really beautiful craftsmanship on it. The fork is a Microtech carbon fork that came on a Basso road frame. A lot of Basso road frames have really tight geometry, so the fork works well on this track frame. Getting pretty beat up, though, so a new fork will be in order soon.

And, finally, the flat bar/bar end setup is my bread and butter. Been working great for me for four or five years now.

Posting this on behalf of a friend, thought it was absolutely too gorgeous to be unseen. 80s Performance "Superbe" Superbe crankset and brake, Soma wheels, San Marco Regal saddle, just so beautiful. The photo doesn't do it justice.
