Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? My second fixed gear. A much maligned Visp frameset with mostly pretty obvious components. Very comfortable ride.

Badge hand drawn on silver sticker stock and sealed with packing tape.

I built this Raleigh for my gf, she loves it. I know, "No foot retention or brakes?!?", but its geared 46x20 and a front brake is coming soon.

Another view.

But why not just put on a brake? I mean how much trouble is it to spend $25 on a front brake? Are you afraid of losing that brakeless "track" look on a womens ten speed conversion? I don't get why you wouldn't just put on a brake.

These are pics of probably the final installment of this bike until i get enough money for one that isnt a conversion. May eventually get some new bars and pedals however.

EDIT : and definitely a new saddle. accepting used donations! :-)

I think it looks great! Very unique and I like the mix of colors. I also like how you cleverly used stuff you had lying around, instead of buying a bunch of new parts. That's how I like to do it. A fixie mixte!

The bike gets the bed, and its owner sleeps chained to a parking meter.

I like the idea. I to thought about throwing a nexus 3sp in my older Pake for awhile. Never did it though.

Is that the new fixed-gear 3-speed hub? I haven't read any reports of how it performs!
