Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

That blue bike makes me cry inside, but if the guy's happy with it and isn't riding it like a jackass (though I suspect he might be), then whatever.

Dents, rust, and cracked tires aside (I can agree those are bad)... I can dig a bike with scratches, road grime, faded paint, and dirty bar tape. It means that it's been ridden quite a bit.

It's like the differences between a shortcut link to a file on the desktop of your computer vs actually saving a huge file to your desktop. Every time you refresh the desktop, that shortcut or file has to reload.

I guess it's assumed that there would be a 56k/slow computer warning.

i will say my current roommate went thru the back window of a parked SUV while riding a bike drunk and digging in his pocket for a ringing cell phone. 15 stitches in the arm and a cut up forehead. (yah, no helmet lol)
whats crazier is a week afterwards he was complaining about one of his head scabs itching and there was still a small piece of glass stuck in his head.

hes actually an intelligent person but when drunk and riding a bike 20+ mph try to concentrate on the road....or wear a helmet....or dont go so fast.....or dont drink and bike.
although i will confess to drunk biking and enjoying it. i guess its at least a few thousand times better than driving a car drunk.

Absolutely &^%$# brilliant!

Already e-mailed my bikes and beers buddies to get this going. Might do pubs instead of houses and winner drinks for free...

Just ride with someone sober...

Apparently I bike well when drunk, but once I get off my bike, there goes all coordination. =\

Nice soho s. Get some grips, and keep the chainguard on. Its a great feature on that bike, yet it looks bent outwards at the front of the chainring.

Coupla bikes

Rescued '89 Trek 330 52cm frame/fork built up with takeoffs and used parts. Was a fixie with drops, then turned into a singlespeed commuter for sale (sold).

53cm '85 Panasonic Sport-1000 conversion. A little large and quite long for me. Covered with scratches and scuffs, but still a great bike. Spiffed up for sale with some bar tape.

I hadn't crashed in about 15 years until drunk biking (on the way home from a NOFX concert in April). I crashed twice in the same night. One of the times I was trying to take a piss while riding (non fixed gear bike) and the other time I was trying to adjust my rear blinky. Those are a couple of things NOT to do while drunk biking. It didn't really hurt though... but the next morning wasn't so pleasant.
