nice bike. where did you get the wheels? XP
Here is my 'awkward' bike! Its a 1984 Schwinn Mesa Rider! I call it 'awkward' because it is a mtn bike frame and it somewhat like a cruiser when you ride it..haha. Looks awkward, but at the same time, kinda cool (imo).
Quick story: The Mesa Rider was, origianlly, a mtn bike! I got ahold of this frame (that has never been built is what i was told) from the attic of an old bike shop! It was sitting in a climate controlled environment ,hanging on a rack, awaiting to be built but never was. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, i picked up the frame, bought all new drive parts and threw on some mtn bike wheels and some straight mtn bike bars as well as a road tire for the 26inch wheel.
I have some bullhorn style bars coming from the LBS that i should be picking up soon! I'll throw up new pics when i do! Bike has foot straps as well as a front brake, just have it off for the photo!
Anywho, here she is!
(yes, i missed focus in this photo..haha)

the trick is to master trackstanding in all 4 positions of where your wheel and feet stay. Once you get that down, you'll have to coordination of knocking out the backward circles when you're in the various positions throughout the circle

yeah i've tried to get better at that but i just have zero coordination with my left foot forward.
just like i've tried wheelies and have piles of trouble finding my balance point. still seems fun. maybe someday.

Thanks!
The bike was actually an extremem budget build so i just took the wheels off a walmart mtn bike my roommate used to have.
The wheels are from a Chinese company called "Stars". These are the 'swift aeros' i think..haha
Here is a link to the Chinese company and the wheel page. Although i do not think you can buy them, nor do they seem like the best wheels in the world. But, they got me on the bike without spending lots of cash!

I don't really do tricks but I don't think they're dumb. Ride your bike the way you want.
Backwards circles are easier than you think. I thought they were impossible at first, but you just have to commit to getting that front foot pedaling past 12 o'clock and you're golden.

Only tricks I know are backwards circles, trackstands, riding the bike backwards, and riding the bike backwards with butt on stem, and I guess whip skidding. Most of these I think are basics that everyone should know how to do though. The BMX stuff aint my thing. I still can't get the wheelie though

It's fixed, but I enjoy having the freedom to wear any type of shoe
Got the spokes for a deal. I'll probably get flamed for riding them :shamed:, but I ain't gonna front, they look cool to me (and probably only me:facepalm: ) Super fun to ride! ...slowly puts flame suit on while trying to explain self

It's good to have a comfortable set...
I must have taken that brake apart way too many times, finally finishing it, only to remember the front and rear bolts are different...took it back apart and swapped out the bolt... I just wish the anodizing could have taken off the tektro logo... but its all good...gives it an interesting look

it looks kinda wierd with those huge tires on them. but still pretty awesome. I am in the same boat as you. If I were able to pick up an aeropsoke for a steal, I would. And i'd ride the hell out of it!

Finally finished my 3-speed conversion and took a few quick pics. Hopefully I can get some
outdoor (in sunlight) pictures this weekend. Yes it is on the rollers backwards so I could
get drive-side pics .
I will add my comments to the 3-speed rants after I put some miles on it.

Thanks for all of the nice comments on the Centurion.
Here is a sneak-preview of my next project:
This will also be a 3-speed, but in a more classic style with full fenders, generator hub and lights, fold-out rear baskets, chainguard, and kickstand. I got spokes to build the wheels cross-2 since the cross-3 angles on the front hub make me nervous. It may be christmas before I get time to finish this one .
