Origin8 del pasado retails around $179, eighthinch scrambler for $159, or an unbranded kilo for $199 (best value imo).

out of curiosity do you plan on building it up after buying all the parts? or do you already have the components?

building it up. i was going to buy the motobecane jury frame off bike island, but they've been aying they do ship to canada, then they say they dont. im just trying to find a frame that is a backup if the bike island thing doesnt work out. i need to know what frame im getting before i buy the components. i need to know the bb size, and the stem size, ect. im just crossing my fingers that they do ship to canada.

that makes sense. it would be less expensive to just buy a full bike from bikesdirect or something like that. the merciers are pretty nice and less expensive. just speaking from experience. you will get exactly what you want doing it your way, which is how i did it but also spend more money. so if you are trying to save just get a complete bike and upgrade from there.

p.s. i got a leader 721tr and built it up and it was definitely more than i planned on spending but i dropped a lot on my wheelset

haha i was going to get the kilo tt off bikesdirect.com, but they only ship to the states. and i think i would have more fun building up a bike. thats what i love doing to bikes, riding is just half the fun. getting a whole bike in a box is cool, but not that exiting. i would be dropping around $700 if i build it up. but im more than willing to spend it. just need a few more shifts at work, so i dont break the bank tooooo bad.

Same thing happened with my Pista. Bought the frame and decided to build my first fixed gear while riding my road bike. I wanted to take time and put decent components on it, next thing you know, I'm around the 700-800 dollar range.

That's a better way to go, IMO. Usually, the stock components on a $4-800 bike sucks. You can build it up like you did with some decent components cheaper.

Yup. When I add up what I spent, it went over budget by quite a bit, but in the end, I love my bike and it is truly unique and fits me perfectly.

i can echo the above. you will spend more than you ever wanted to but you will have something that is yours.
