I did some research on the previous group buy. It was a $50 buy in, meaning you paid $50 to order the frame. Later on in the process (when frames shipped, I think) you paid an additional $150. So the total cost ended up being 200 bucks. If this goes through, we sshould negotiate for a similar deal.

I sent an email to IRO to see if they would be interested in doing a Group Buy. Here is the reply I just received:
So much for an IRO Group Buy. :-(
Larry--
Thank you for your interest in Irocycle. Sorry, but Irocycle no longer does Group Buys. I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks.

I don't blame them. I'm sure they were a huge pain in the ass, and IRO is probably selling stuff as fast as they can ship it out anyway, so why would they? I was in on the Rob Roy Group buy, which was well worth the $160. Too bad that frameset is no longer available.

now you're just being ridiculous
lol in all seriousness though, i'm pretty sure they're popular enough so that they don't need to do a gb. at best we might get free shipping.
anyone think leader would do a group buy on that new frame they were making in that opinion thread?

well, don't give up guys!!! Let's try a Charge group buy...or some other blossoming company that is trying to get its name out. Charge seems like they would be more likely to do it.

Is that the bike you want to group buy?

ugh. charge, affinity, geekhouse...lets face it guys...none of those companies are going to do group buy. Those frames are so expensive it would be tough to find a group of people to buy them anyways. I think IRO would have been our best shot but obviously they don't want to do it. I can' treally think of any others...maybe when the 2010 Rush comes out Soma would do one to promote it, I donno.

I think a Surly GB would be somewhat difficult. Worth a shot though, right?
I'd personally like to pick up some Charge components.
The spoon saddle looks awesome.

I think a saddle group buy would be a lot easier to organize. I would probably be in for one whereas with a frame I have no need for it.
I will certainly keep an eye on this thread
