Wow that midnight blue looks great! I have a classic in black. Love that bike.

Hi folks. I just had to use the defibrillator on this thread to jump-start it again. Geez, this is the second thread in a row I've done this to!

Ok, after a long hiatus on bikes, let's just say kids, coaching baseball and job got in the way, I'm back to riding. I'm seriously looking at the Lightning or the Special. Any thoughts on those since the heartbeat on this thread stopped? Looking mostly for commuting and casual rides.

That's the color orange my first nice real BMX bike was when I was kid. The next bike I purchase has to be that color.

What's to think about? With the Lightning you save a pound. (Whoopee do) With the Special you get lugs and a steel fork. Have you seen the polished Special?

I was considering the same two bikes 18 months ago and called Richard. After talking to him I decided that the lightening was a better choice for me. Very happy with the decision for the way I use the bike.

AlmostTrick,

Yes, I did see the polished model. Very cool! Reminiscent of the chrome bikes that came out in the 1970's that I lusted over back then.Quite frankly though, I don't want a "target" bike. Although it's beautiful as is the bright blue Special (Wow! the polished lugs really set it off!!), the Anthracite is more to my needs.

Last time I talked to Richard he said he was trying to bring back this option for the Wabi Special. He took it off the market because he saw something, it looked like rusting, inside the clear coat on the bike he was using (and probably others) which he showed me. He said that he was close to solving that problem. That was in September, so I guess he finally did figure it out.
