Does anyone have any experience with the 8bar frames? The price seems decent and some of the components too like the handlebars and stems(As far as weight, price and looks go)
Shipping to north america isn't that bad either, frame and some parts for $65 around.
I was looking at the Factory Five f5100 that's a bit cheaper but shipping is around $120, and doesn't include the headset or seat post collar.

Yeah I like the looks and the price and the welds are decent but not sanded like Cinelli or anything, but for cheaper than Cinelli and I'm not a fan of all their logos and the fact I see 2-3 a day while riding is more reason to get something else.

They're "unique", just like everything else.

They are bikes made of budget white label components that have nice matte paint jobs...and cost $1,500.

The bikes aren't exactly custom as much as they are configured. When I hear "custom bike" I think of custom geometry or at the very least, "best of breed" component options.

Basically, with these bikes you mix and match parts based on a handful of options per category. These options are simply color variations of the same budget parts. "Do you want white chain or black chain? Do you want white saddle or black saddle? Raw or Black frame?" etc...

To me, "custom" would be:

- What color do you want?
- What chain do you want?
- What saddle do you want?

I would assume that the bikes are fine. But, there are no choice components in any of the options.

Well I'm just looking for a frame and possibly new handlebars but will probably go with Deda Pista but yeah I don't see them as custom either if they don't give custom geo or even other colors than the few they offer, but for the price of the frame it seems pretty good, I was originally looking for a Colossi or the many rebrands everyone sells and they go from $490-700 and that's without headset and seat post clamp.
They don't say where the frame is made but I'm sure the same place as many other frames like Cinelli and that's China or Taiwan.

To be honest I wanted to then seems like the only site I can order one from is gridcitybikeshop I think it was called but adding the frame to the cart and checking shipping prices wasn't working and got confused with the options like 'one color, two color and custom color' but no info other than those pull down options. Also the frame on their site states different colors yet no photos of them and I can't seem to find one complete bike on google using the frame as if it's new and unreleased.
So I started looking at other frames


Is it actually hand made in Germany? I didn't see any info on the site and from all the photos I seen it doesn't seem to have any stickers saying where it was manufactured

its definitly NOT made in germany. frames are made in china, parts most likely in taiwan. i also own an 8bar V4 and i must say, i am not very convinced about the quality at all!
the paint job is absuletly miserable, i was just leaning it to a pole and a huge paintchip came off.
the front part of the stem doesnt fit to the rest, my left lever is getting loose all the time, the tension off the wheel was really bad, the tires are absolut crap ( 2 punctures in the first week), the axle of the pedals are not straight, so i had to change them.
chain and seat stays of the frame are not straight, its impossible to center the wheel in there!

also i had alot troubles before, eventhought i didnt had the bike!
max from 8bar told me it will be shipped in two weeks, but it got shipped after 7 weeks.
i dont know whats their strategy, but its not about keeping customers.
i think its more like this touristy restaurants, locals would never go, from the outside the look nice, then they sell you expensive but really ****ty food because they think you´ll never come back anyway
my advice to you, buy something else.
i just sold mine and i am happy the nightmare is over, eventhough i lost some money.

Just to be clear. Few frames are made outside one of the China's and few components outside Asia. Being made there is no indication of quality as some brands make sure they're getting good stuff and others don't. As always, cost is a reasonable indicator though also, as always, it's not absolute in that you can pay too much for rubbish or you can get get a bargain.

As far as 8bar goes, I've got no idea as I have no experience with them, I'm just commenting on the source question.

i´m not saying asian products are bad. 8bar frames are propably made in the same factory as other big brands. i am just saying they should invest in some proper quality management. there were a few things wrong, which shouldn´t be on a bike which costs about 1100 euros which even hasn´t got gears and just one break.
also i hate to get hold on with wrong informations, like "we will ship your bike in 2 weeks".
and also you shouldn´t advertise your product with germany, when it has nothing to do with it..
