Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Are Republic bikes good quality?

the website seems awesome, you can customize your entire color scheme... but how is the quality of these bikes? I mean, they retail on the site for $394...

Thanks!

My friend bought one without my knowledge... It arrived with a spray painted looking chain and mismatched hubs, and solid plastic grips... enough said.

A girl I know wants to get a fixed gear after riding mine and asked me about this company. I have no idea or knowledge except that I trust the guy at my LBS, who told me they were POS. Plastic chains, bad frames, just garbage.
