Go crotchless jeans!

I wore through one pair of jeans this year, but it was rather sudden (the rip). Fortunately, I bought three pairs of those jeans last summer, so no biggie.

People attacking bike shorts because of the lycra look.. I initially wore regular street clothes on the bike.. I had the same problem , they'd become thread bare in no time and seams came apart. With my bike shorts, some have thousands of miles on them. They still look like new.. They are made for cycling and as a result last..
.. Don't like bike shorts. Expect your street clothes to have a short life.

soo yeah, people with solutions of patching with leather helpful, and durable types of jeans... people suggesting bike shorts not soo much.

i love my bike shorts, but that is if im riding long distances on my fixie +30 miles at one time, besides that i use my fixie to commute to school (3miles), then to meet people at restaurants/cafes, which doesnt make sense to wear my bike shorts then change into something else when i arrive... also its hot as balls to be wearing bike shorts under neath my shorts...

another note is that i didnt mention when i started this thread is, that when i had my bike as a single-speed instead of a fixie, i never wore through any pants, but these last two months ive destroyed two crotches :(

also, i wipe down my bike seat with baby wipes every time i get back in, since i have a white seat. i wash my skinny jeans and jean shorts every week, unless i find myself sweating hardcore balls when commuting to school and running errands.

OR..if you dont care..you can sew a patch on the outside of the jeans in the inside of the crotch part. That way your jeans wont get ruined. The fabric/leather isnt going to wear from riding. Works for me anyway! This was the only benefit I got from being a crust punk for all my teen years.

yep, I do the same thing, except I use old scarves to line the inside. I know, girly of me, but it works. it's thin, so it doesn't look weird, it feels nice if it touches skin, and they're super strong (especially silk, if you get high quality, the thread count is super high and they don't wear out AT ALL), I usually get a dozen for a couple bucks at the thrift store.

package for you, sir.

1) I still think that picture is a fake.
2) I think jeans last long enough that they are worth wearing for cycling because imo if I am wearing spandex, as soon as I get off my bike, I have no reason to be wearing the spandex at that point.

the image is not fake: do a google image search for "cycling team" and you'll see other fine examples

however, Tex_Arcana nailed it, and i really laughed at his reply - it really cracked me up that he a) knew it was the Polish national team (i guess that's obvious because their shorts say Polska), b) he called me "some guy from the Bronx", c) his comment was ethnically correct as he used the word "kielbasa", and d) he brings up a good point: now you see why black shorts are better than colored shorts.

That's not photo shop just the Polish national team demonstrating why black continues to be the popular color for bike shorts.

It's so some guy from the Bronx won't someday treat the entire internet to an extreme close up of your kielbasa.

lastly,

of course i can see what you mean, but you've got to respect these guys because they are some hardcore, strong, legit cyclists

Okay, so maybe I just *wanted* that picture to be fake. :P

EDIT: Not that I have a problem with the male genitalia. It just seems a little overstated/theatrical the way the image was done. :P

Typical military fatigues have an extra layer of fabric on the crotch/ass area (and have big cargo pockets). They usually last me quite a while, either as pants or cut into shorts. Traditional Dickies 874s are awesome too. I suppose I don't look as cool as if I was wearing my wife's jeans, but...........

:innocent:
