We just got some in to sell until our Scrambler V2 comes. The 25.4 seatpost thing is pretty limiting- we found some basic alloy black or silver to stock with them- that is about it unless you want a Thomson or something. The seat stays seem a bit skimpy for welds- but other than that it is just funky looking geometry and a fairly inexpensive/entry level frame. We know the guys at J&B really well (parent company for Origin-8) and so I am sure they would love feedback from people who have actually ridden them!

i'd like to see said V2!
as far as the del pasado, i think the funky frame design sets it apart from others and it honestly can't be all that bad. i'd like to try one without having to buy it. |

My LBS just got a few of these in stock. Comes complete with entirely orgin-8 components including bullhorns. Of course they were still in the boxes when I saw them and unassembled next to the boxes were some dp-18 wheelsets in gold and red (the color of the components on each bike) I'm going to assume they are putting the wheelsets on the frames because they had stickers that said $160 which is way underpriced for anything at that shop. I asked how much they were selling them for as completes but they didn't know yet because they are still missing parts... probably seatpost. I can't wait to see these things being sold for $500+

I stopped by the LBS near my parents house today to see if they had any road shoes and I saw one of these halfway built up. The store stocks lots of cheap/colored fixed gear stuff because it flies off the shelf. It looked real weird, the track ends looked bad.
I guess the seatpost problem explains why it wasn't finished. |
I recently got one and the frame looks good with small diameter tubing (all 1") with straight fork.
It feels quite stiff and nimble for me, uses short reach caliper brakes, has enough clearance for 32c tires. I think it is a very practical frameset. For me the only downside of that frameset is that it comes without headset and it uses hard to find 25.4mm seatpost. |
most vintage Raleighs and tons of BMX bikes use 25.4 seatposts - what's the problem? they should be in any older LBS or BMX shop, and certainly easy enough to order

With white DP18 wheelset and white tires. http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~yiseung/fixed_cx_1.jpg Now it looks like this... 30c cross tire, eggbeater pedals Personally I like it quite a bit. |
wow dude, that looks really good. a guy at my lbs has one and it looks terrible.
the cable guides kill it though |
So what is the geo like? I can't seem to find any charts
