Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I'd rather see some road grime, and the white bar tape a nice worn shade of gray.

Bikes: A fixed gear, a vintage roadie and a POS.

We've been hijacked by crabon and gears.... Isn't this a derailleur free zone?!

Pneumatic Cantilevers? Cool beans, neat-oh bike. Reminds me of the paintball markers of the 90's, all match anodized.

Yeah i love that paramount! here's a closeup of the retrodirect. two chainrings work fine with a sprung chaintensioner (you can only shift chainrings pedaling forwards of course)

I love love that red Trek 1420, beautiful! That Raleigh pro is nice, too, but I'm not a big fan of raleigh bikes in general. The raleigh looks like its much bigger than the other 2, though, do they all fit properly?

Yeah, actually they are both similar in size. The Trek is 58cm C-C and the Raleigh is 60cm C-C. The oversized tubes on the Trek make it look a bit smaller and I have read that the Raleigh Professionals have a geometry that leads to a long head tube. I'm not sure what that really meant but I took it at face value. Both have been very comfortable on 50+ mile rides.

I think the angle of the picture above makes it look a bit taller too. Here is a picture from the side:

The Trek gets 90% of my miles for a number of reasons. The indexed shifting, computer, rack and weenie gears make it nice for long trips
