Sec. 46.02 - Unlawful Carrying Weapons (Texas Penal Code)

1. A person commits an offense if he intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his person a handgun, illegal knife or club.

It has been my experience that most people who draw a weapon in a situation are going to concentrate on that one item for usage. However if you think hard you are the one with the advanage.

Oh yeah, him vs 5 guys. He has a pissy knife, they have an Uzzi for all he knows. Good plan Hunter, go with that advantage. What exactly is that advantage of which you speak? Insanity? Stupidity? Both?

OK, let me clarify and say i assume anyone ATTACKING me is armed or all of the stuff on my list. I don't think 5 year old kids have uzis, i dont think everyone is a bad person.

You can focus on the bad in life, u can focus on the good, but when it counts you better not have your head so far up your ass that you become a victim. Being PC is nice, being civilized is nice, being ***** and shot to death on a frozen soccer field is bad.

And this is pertinant to our forum because everyone who rides at one point will be exposed to someone on the street acting odd or obnoxious. How we react from there might determine how it goes. I used to flip people off and i had those three encounters. Now i smile, wave, and if it goes bad from there from now on i will defend myself. Every action has a reaction. At work, at school, on websites, u can tell someone to kiss ur ass, do it on the street and u might end up regretting it. You don't know what a stranger is like, on drugs, crazy, violent, u just dont know.

I now see that defending oneself against odd or obnoxious behavior with knives and clubs is pertinant to our forum.

I started carrying wallet in my left pocket and my mini-crypto in my right because I'm right handed... Just got a pair of shorts that have deep enough pockets so that it's right above my knee, not between me and the saddle...

In each area of the United States knives of various lengths and configurations are legal to carry. Clubs are not. Obey the law. When you or your family are attacked, you have the legal right to defend yourself and do what you need to do. Defend yourself or don't, it's up to you. Carry a weapon or not, up to u. If you run into the wrong person at the wrong time and all you have is your civilized ideals those ideals will not be useful to you except to comfort you or your family when you become victims, thank goodness we aren't like them!

I was responding to a comment a poster made or did you not see that? perhaps through your alchohol induced haze you missed that. Also if you go back and read what redfooj said then what I said..... since it went over your head the first time it may not be a good plan.
I will explain this to you in simple terms so that you understand. I never made any comment on a five on one attack, neither did redfooj in the post I responded to, get it? In a one on one situation in you pull a knife and are depending on that knife as your attack on me I still have two hands, two elbows, two knees, two shins, two feet, get it? Perhaps you cannot grasp that. You did not before so it would not be a surprise. Also FYI I used to demonstrate two on one armed attack scenarios.

It's a waste of time to read the whole post; I'd rather scan for two words my under-devoloped brain recognizes, and quote that portion of the post only.

Though had I read your entire post, I'm sure I would have been enthralled with your interesting use of grammer, convincing arguments, and focused retort.

All in all, you need to weigh in all the factors involved in Ultra-G's scenario.
1. He was alone and there where 5 of them.
2. He's in NYC...enough said (although they say the crime rat has gone down tremendously).
3. It was night, less chance for witnesses.

Now with these factors we need to answer the following questions before any act of retribution can be carried out.

1. Did he know if they were "packing"?
2. Does Ultra-G have any self defense knowledge or experience?
3. Was Ultra-G harmed or was his life threatened in any way?

I would have to say no to #1 & 3 as I don't know if Ultra-G does indeed have any knowledge of self defense other than the knife he carries around.

If I was in his shoes, I would have been pissed! Majorly! But, even with my knowledge of TKD and self defense, I don't think I could have taken on all five. I don't think being spat on deserves retalliation. Like someone said, these were probably teenage kids doing what rebellious teenage kids do when amongst their peers. Simply attacking 5 defenseless little boys (that's how their lawyers will describe them) with a knife who were just doing foolish things as they gallavanted across the bridge on their way home from a night of joyous frollicking and then getting sued because of the irrepairable (sp?) damage you caused their psyche isn't really worth all the trouble now is it?

On the other hand, if my life were threatened in any way and there was no reasonable way out of it, then you'd better watch out cuz I'm not going down without a fight.

And..... so what? Is there anywhere in the Holy Bible that says you cannot defend yourself? I will also ask you to think real hard before you answer this question. If you can you need to quote book, chapter, and verse. Don't give me that tuen the other cheek stuff either. There are stories in the Bible of God helping his people win battles. Even Jesus got mad and resorted to violence.

you guys are sure worked up... the only convincing way to settle is to gather your fists; knives; purses; guns; pvc potato cannons; pepper sprays, steel-toed boots; ravaged and malnourished chimpanzees; and all have a go at it.

No you do not understand. I did not say that I qouted what was already spoken. What I suggest you do is research that verse before running away with wild assumptions. As to your other point there is nothing specific on spitting. There is however examples and directions on defense of oneself and family. I will suggest once again you go research it. That way you at least have some grounds to conversate on.

Jonny Bible? Proof? Ok about 9 years ago I was stabbed with a gaffing hook. It was inserted 3 1/2" into may back just under the short ribs. It took me three weeks to walk around normally (stairs) I could not ride a bike for the longest time. However putting my faith in God and believing his promises 2 months later I was back working. I was doing a contract job building a aircraft hanger for the U.S. Navy in Bermuda. I was a contracted trouble shooter. So I tied rebar, installed Lexan building fronts, hung, taped, and finished sheetrock, built, and installed 520 lockers, etc. After 6 months there I returned stateside to continue my normal profession of renovation on historic buildings. All this time my max riding time wa about 1 hr. After more prayer and renenewd faith I was riding 175 miles a week, and working 8 hours a day in a bike shop once I moved to Tx.

I was actually going to post some of my irreverent jesus jokes but i decided that i would respect others beliefs. Actually i did but i deleted my post. I would wonder how many singlespeeders are atheists or agnostic, wonder if it is a trend, but it doesnt really matter as it's none of my business.

But for sure respecting others beliefs is not only courteous but it's a good idea. Religion is prolly the number one cause of conflict in the world.

Now what this has to do with bicycles i don't know. But WTF.

I am an atheist (always had serious doubts about god, atleast the way it was presented by christianity, islam etc, ever since I can remember) and I have kept my beliefs private for a long time. Lately (looking at all the stuff going on around the world in the name of god) I am less convinced that atheists/agnostics should just keep it to themselves and let the god beleivers run amock. Cannot afford to be apathetic and let history repeat itself. But then again, this forum is really not the right place for that.
