I can't skid either...Ive been riding fixed for a while now, and just cant get it. I have tried, but maybe never committed. I do the skip move on occasion, but I have learned to just back-pedal effectively...and I have a brake. Im not sure if it is my raito (49/16) or the fact that I just haven't put enough effort into it.....and I like my tires.

learn on the dirt. It can be fun, but Its nothing to hype over.

1. Skidding really isnt a big deal, it is fun sometimes tho
2. It really isnt that hard. Its all about leaning, locking with the back, and pulling up with the front. The pull is key, imo. |
?? What's all this skid dissing ??
It is fun, we all agree. Then it is worth learning. But you know it took me months to learn to initiate skidding. Then it took me few more month to skid without losing balance. And, I have been working on fish-tailing for nearly a half year and I still can't do it. ... So it's gonna take you some time too. Just be patient and keep practicing. You shouldn't expect yourself to do what MASH people or some serious Tarck people (I am NOT one of them) do in a month or, for a person like me, even after few years. But you know after every ride you learn a little bit and that's fun. |
Lately I've been sort of skipping while braking. It un-weights the back wheel enough that popping it up real quick is super easy. I don't know how much it helps slow down, but it gets the cranks in a good position for track stands and is fun. So there.

what is so hard about skidding? it took me about 5 minutes to learn and i just did it on concrete, no grass. sounds like you need to hit the weights or something.
