It must not get very cold in Berlin. Around here -30C is fairly common in winter; exposed skin does not fare well.

I wear Swrve knickers. They look good, are slim so the pockets don't swing their contents around your thighs when you're riding, have back pockets deep enough to fit a mini-U lock, are reinforced in the right areas, comfortable and relatively cheap. I even got a pair of the water resistant ones, and they work really well in the rain. Knickers/shants seem like a pretty good compromise between fashion and function. I'm surprised I don't see more people wearing them.

Oh it can get pretty damn cold here. Not quite -30C. Good winter days its around -15C or so. But its always so windy. The street we live on has giant soviet built buildings and is like wind tunnel. Makes for fun commutes.

That's what I'm talking about. It's form meets function.

U-Lock in pocket ≠ function.

I hate seeing crappy Knog lights on peoples' forks. Such a waste. So stupid. All my friends do it, which makes me hate it more.

You can wear whatever pants you want, and you virtually eliminate the risk of getting your pants ripped up in the chain.
My wife has waist length hair (the Cousin It look - all the same length) and uses the equivalent of chick bungee cord to pull her hair back in a pony tail. Works great as a leg strap.

It's handy there, quick to access for a fast lockup or alternative uses, and in no way impedes riding. It's practical.

Maybe, but when you're a 185 lb. apeman with long, gnarly dreads and a beard down to your belly, a hem or two isn't going to change the looks you get.

You know, I really like the Knog lights, though. Whether it be MTB, FG, road or otherwise, I always throw them in my jersey back pocket if I'm going out late and the sun may be going down when I'm coming home.

But fork mounting them does nothing.

How does having a brake lever on your handlebars where it's supposed to be "impede riding"???

it throws off the symmetrical appeal of the cockpit area.

Edit: he's talking about moshimitsu's post.

In no way impedes riding = you are not in a position to tell me this isn't true. Doesn't bother me one bit and is not in the way. Ever.

EDIT: Also, Brazil nuts.
