New To Fixies
Hi everyone,
New to fixies, just got this as my new toy. http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...i/DSC_0003.jpg http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...i/DSC_0008.jpg http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...i/DSC_0004.jpg http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...i/DSC_0007.jpg http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...i/DSC_0006.jpg I'm debating on whether or not I should put a front brake on it. I live in an area with a lot of rolling hills and I already had a few close calls. Let me know what you think and if there are any other improvements I can make. |
Umm, where are your straps?
|
Nice bike.
Get a brake so you live long enough to learn to ride that bike. And some foot retention. |
your bike will look cooler with out a brake.
|
Is that seat post for looks or is it so the bike will fit you? If it's for the fit then your frame size might be a bit off.
White chain = fashion and dirt collector. Sweet frame BTY...My 2¢ worth. |
OMG, f*ck you!! Where'd you get the dough for that?!
haha, jk but +1 on foot retention and front brake though, you'll probably thank your brakes when they save your life and do you really need that big of a setback on your seatpost? seems odd to me, you must really not fit the frame well? |
Thanks for the input!
Straps are on the way... and the seat is an actual time trial saddle, I really like the fit. Any riding tips? |
You are new to fixed gears and you are riding that?!?!?!
Have fun. |

**** you. Seriously get some foot retention and a brake. |
I picked the seat out, fizik Ares... and it's still a work in progress. I just picked it up today :).
I'm getting the straps in a few days and the front brake I'm definitely going to put on. |
brakes, but it is a really really nice bike.
|
I hope you have a garage or a damn good lock. I wouldn't want to ride that bike on the street in my city, much less lock it up anywhere out of sight.
|
lovin the bike, except for the obvious. i am dissapointed that you put a 130bcd crank on that frame/wheelset. it would be a beaut with some 144bcd

Also, do you recommend a specific brand of chains? The white KMC chain was just a temporary fix while I shopped around. |
Do you just have no budget?
|
eclipse2,
Very, very nice. Do the front brake thing. Do the foot retention thing. Ignore the nit-pickers and enjoy the hell out of that beauty. :thumb: |

What type of crank would you recommend? I went with the 130 for easier stopping since I originally didn't want any brakes.
