Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

You should try riding it instead of dragging it behind your car.

Gee, I just use Lizard Skin chainstay thingies and cut little holes in them where needed. When I feel like going the extra mile I have my mother-in-law, who is hell on wheels with a sewing machine make me a custom wrap. She even sews in padding and velcro along the edges of the material to easily get it on/off. Nothing like a custom wrap from grandma. But, I don't live in NYC and I've been known to grease my chain on occasion.

Bikes: 2008 Specialized Tricross Singlecross w/ Alfine hub, 198x Nishiki Olympic (2x: first nicked, second left at move :(...), Iron Horse beater (also gone), RIP 1998 Rockhopper (cracked frame; lost fight with Ford Focus)

I had a bike in Miami that was taped for theft-deterrence reasons. It handled a couple years in the sun before the tape had trouble.

You're right, my bad. I thought it was a Cannondale track because of the dropouts and the thick downtube.

To give you an idea of this guy's bicycle stable: That's his beater city/commuter bike. He writes the Cycling WMD blog, and he is on here too.
