Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

It was a little funny. If it happened to me it wouldnt be. I do not leave my bike locked up for more then 20 mins though. When I do lock it up it has two u locks and wire thing, and I am still worried every time.

Okay, it's a little funny.

But it still sucks for the guy who had his bike stolen.

There are a lot of places on the internet where this type of humor is par for the course.

I wouldn't be offended.

I kid I kid. It gave me a chuckle. But still, if I lost my bike I would be pissed for a long time. Any sign of it would get me pretty riled up.

Jesus, when we were messengers we'd move our buddys' free locked bikes around the corner or across the street for them to find (always within easy find though) , sit somewhere close by and watch him lose his mind for about 5 seconds when he comes out to unlock and laugh our asses off, then he would too. This guy makes a joke of someone's stolen bike and you **** all over him like he kidnapped this victim's GF. Whiny *****es with an underdeveloped sense of humor. I guess this new batch of FG/SS rider be all serious bidness yo!

Unfortunately you're talking to the generation of kids that weren't allowed to pick their own teams for kickball at recess because someone's feelings might get hurt.

Way too much sensitivity.

I started wrestling in Washington in 3rd grade, which they had clear, distinct winners during matches and teams. When I moved to Oregon during the summer before 5th grade, around 1999, I took a season off from wrestling. I went back to wrestling while living in Oregon in the 6th grade, and they had the weirdest setups.

First off, what club/school you were from really did not matter, as every event was a constant round robin, so Team A versus Team B matches were null. Also, after matches, both wrestlers were winners because of the fact they participated, which was dumb. You could obliterate your opponent, whether by points or pin, yet both of you still had your hands raised by the referee at the end of the match.

Thinking about it makes me rage, goddamn.

I remember one other guy my father met who had a problem with the setup, but all the other parents were completely fine because their child's hand was being held.

People need thicker skin these days.

Actually, no. Thievery should not be turned into a joke. It's not funny. Now, as one poster talked about messing with a friend - sure. That's funny. Making a joke about someone having their possessions stolen minimizes the act in our collective mind. Oh, his bike was stolen but hey, even that's cute. No, it's not.
