yeah 2.5mm's ain't much, less than an 1/8". that's like the thickness of a nickel difference. if i shimmed my cleat that would only make my leg go that much higher on the upstroke of the long arm. i have 3 different bikes, all with different arm lengths (170 fixie, 175 mtb, 165 crit road to be converted) and it doesn't **** me up when i switch bikes, but i do wonder if there will be a rocking effect especially riding no handed.

2.5mm arm length difference on one side means...
5mm diameter difference in movement. one leg goes further, lower and higher than the other.
180mm cranks will make a 1,130.4mm circumference
177.5mm cranks will make a 1,114.7mm circumference
175mm cranks will make a 1,099mm circumference

Whichever side has the shorter crank arm --- break that leg and set it slightly wrong. That should take care of the difference. Total cost to you: $0.00, unless you're not willing to HTFU and you cave in to pain killers.

i've seen 177.5 arms for sale, just not the pista ones, only strada. like i said, right now all i can find are 175 and 180. soon enough all things pass through ebuey. it's just a waiting game now. i want the longer arms to complement my slow cadence and bigasss gear ratio, i'm rocking 81 gear inches, so i figure gaining that much extra leverage can only make these albuquerque hills seem smaller. the way my next conversion is designed, with the 177.5's, the pedals will still be 1/2 an inch higher than my current fix.

the crank was cheap because it was an uncommon size and there was only one side of it.
