Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I love cages.

I don't really care about foot retention on my hybrid. I wear snow boots while riding this bike sometimes, along with my work dress shoes that I don't want to scuff up. So yeah, not a big deal.

What about platform pedals with long removable pins?
My feet never slip on those, not matter how fast I go and how crazy the rocks get

After reading "cage" then "sandwich," I thought this thread was going to be about riding the sandwich home in the bottle cage. I think that would have been a much better story. (just messing with you)
