Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? How about alternating the spoke-nipple's colors?

You sure you want to run single straps? What clips are you going to use?

You should consider a Devil 101 or Izumi track chain; I think a little gold chain action would be a cool subtle offset agaisnt the red frame. I think they offer those chains in silver too if you hate gold.

You should round out your wheel colors; silver or black DA hubs, silver or black spokes, silver or black hoops; once you've got that figured out, the rest of your selection should fall into place. For some reason I'm seeing a silver wheelset over a black one, especially if you're going to be doing the blue saddle/strap combo.
where would I go about finding these custom nuevos? and are they worth the dough?

oh I'm probably going for doubles actually, but clips and pedals are still undecided. what are some good keirin track pedals?

and gold izumi chain sounds awesome! gonna check that out.

wheels are pretty much going to be silver arayas laced to DAs, but aren't all DA hubs black anyway?
and saddle's not blue anymore, going to stick with black
thanks for the ideas!

that sounds interesting, but it might clash with the color combo. what colors were you thinking?

oh and on a side note, I'm waiting for a x-ray report on my left wrist, might be a fracture. landed on my arms today after my wheels caught on train tracks, again. fml. I'm going to save myself the b*tching, slow to type with one arm. anyway wish me luck... or not, because I've never had a cast before...

all dura-ace hubs are silver. They don't make em in black although a few independent people have had them anodized black.

I was thinking though, and you should get something more classy then DA hubs. They are nice, I run them, but they just aren't that unique. Look into buying some NOS vintage hubs.

I was thinking silver and blue nipples would be pimpin. And I have a set of Custom Nuevos with a pair of red Toshi doubles that I haven't used in a couple years but are in great condition. (since I bought clipless). I might be willing to sell. Make me an offer.

450 for a frame and fork is quite cheap, all things considered. The frame alone is likely 300. Does it really make sense to spend another 300 on a post and saddle? I mean is this a restoration project? A fashion statement? Or something of a ride-ability project? I would build it to ride.

If by restoration you mean it to re-create a beautiful piece of art, then yes. But I'm still going to ride and abuse the sh*t out of it.
Fashion statement? nope. I ride because I love it, and I want my bike to look awesome. I'm sure most people do.
