Velo Plugs

Considering buying some VeloPlugs for my DP18s, does anyone know what size will fit the spoke holes? Any comment on this product otherwise?

Thanks.

I didn't know they came in sizes. I've had my holes plugged with Velo Plugs for about 2 years now, no issues.

They have yellow and red and they are different sizes.

What's wrong with rim tape? Putting on 32 little plugs instead of one piece of tape seems like a pit of a pain, not that you'd do it all that often. (I'm not trying to be a jackass here, just trying to get a sense of the purpose.)

Beats saving weight by using packing tape.

I have the red ones. I bought them before they had multiple sizes. I don't know what size they would be considered now.

Can I assume velo plugs last longer then rim tape?

Velo Plugs do not work on DP18s, but it's not the spoke hole size, its the second little ridge on the inside of the rim.. it won't allow the plugs to fit in correctly. I'm disappointed.

Would you like my new Pearl Izumi arm warmers? I waited a week for them to arrive, and they don't fit either.

Bikes: Custom Zona c/f tandem + Scott Plasma single

Have had red Veloplugs on our tandem's Velocity rims for several years.
Lighter than rim tape.
Rim tape can move about, Veloplugs don't.
Veloplugs can be re-used, rimtape can not.
Now able to remove/install my kevlar beaded tires with bare hands (No tirelevers needed).
We like 'em!

Veloplugs suck.

Expect to lose 3-4 every time you change a tire.

Never lost 1, and I've probably changed tires 50 times since I've had 'em.

50 flats over two years isn't unbelievable. It's an unfortunate amount, but if he rides a lot, I can see it happening.
