Kilo TT Lugged - do it Mike

I want to start drumming up interest in a lugged Kilo TT. Despite the interest expressed in other threads, Mike seems to still be on the fence about it. Maybe if enough people post support, Mike will actually do it.

I'll only buy a lugged kilo tt if it has lugs that are similar to those from nervex thorughout and based on the Kilo TT deluxe color scheme :D

NinetiesKid 12-30-09 06:24 PM

do it

ZENiC 12-30-09 06:27 PM

I'd buy it!

Dinosaur88 12-30-09 06:57 PM

+1

ScottNotBombs 12-30-09 08:01 PM

i would probably buy one, depending how much more it costs

erichsia 12-30-09 08:29 PM

add $100 for lugs. if it's with the chrome treatment, $120. or so Mike says.

robotphood 12-30-09 08:33 PM

How about a poll or list of potential buyers?

adriano 12-30-09 09:04 PM

a decalless, lugged kilo with a threaded headset, no gold, and a chrome option would be like printing money. youd steal the bianchi base.

bigvegan 12-30-09 09:28 PM

$100 for lugs? Would that include lighter tubing also?

A stripper edition with lighter tubing and lugs, ESPECIALLY polished stainless lugs, would be pretty sweet.

Derreck 12-30-09 09:28 PM

If they did a lugged version I would be bummed because I just bought a white and chrome deluxe. I would have somehow come up with another hundred if it were available now.

adriano 12-30-09 11:27 PM

you could also do fake lugs.

Completely forgot lol... I'll definitely impulse buy it then but minus the regret in the end :D:D

BoozyMcliverRot 12-31-09 01:55 AM

Lugged Kilo with a 1 1/8 head tube and a 27.7 seat post would be awsome..........But that wouldnt be a Kilo, would it?

filtersweep 12-31-09 03:39 AM

there are plenty of niche vendors already strugglng in this space. I would expect a nice branded tubeset, and that does not come cheap.

adriano 12-31-09 12:01 PM

those niche vendors cannot match and will be destroyed by the price that bikesdirect can do.

Submison 12-31-09 01:50 PM

Give me better/lighter tubing and I'm good to go

elTwitcho 12-31-09 03:14 PM

You guys are basically asking for an Alien, and that frame already exists. Why not buy one of those and pretend it's a kilo rather than have mike go through the trouble of copying it?

because Alien take forever to ship out, the pre-painted color choices are limited to black & white, the amount of drilling space on the fork limits what brakes you can use, they're still a bit more expensive than what BD could do, and it seems like a lot of the people who got in on the Alien group buy were not happy with what they got.

adriano 12-31-09 03:43 PM

aliens are cheaper than i thought.

evotion 12-31-09 05:04 PM

Nervex lugs are ugly. Moreso art than anything. Stick with the normal lugs. Threaded with an ACTUAL headbadge would be great.

erichsia 12-31-09 06:15 PM

no headbadge. no anything. just like the bike island framesets.

jeez, I know it's NYE and all, but i figured Mike would've chimed in by now.

+1 BD is like the walmart of bike stores though without a physical store.

Not really on the fense
Just looking for the right lugs and a good quote

Two big issues are:

1 - not too many lugs available these days
2 - frame builders prefer to not build lugged frames as they eat up time and are a pain to do; plus all the good brazers have gotten old and retired leaving mainly welders

anyway, I am trying to get a good product at a fair price with a good selection of sizes

Should be fun; but take a bit of time

thanks for the input
