Are Origin8 hubs the same as Formula?

So... are they?

I've done my research, but didn't get a straightforward answer, so I'm coming to you guys for help

I've been hearing good words on some formula hubs I ordered off the internet, but when I got them this morning, they had Origin8 branded on them.

If they're not the same, can you guys give me some info on how well Origin8s compares to Formulas?

I get paranoid about stripping my hubs (I've already done it twice), so I'm just really hoping these won't strip on me. The stripped hubs were on pretty cheap wheels, and these are the most expensive I've bought so far, I don't feel like messing them up.

I'm not totally sure, but I think Formula=IRO=Velocity=Origin8 in most cases. Formula sells hubs that are rebranded as all sorts of things. However, I think IRO and possibly Origin8 source hubs elsewhere and have them branded as their own as well, so I don't think you can say that for sure. The whole bike industry is ridiculous that way.

Like I say, I'm not certain, but my formula hubs say Velocity on them, and they looks just like pictures of Origin8 hubs I've seen. About your stripping problem, make sure your technique is right. Sheldon that ****.

Thanks. That should be enough for me then lol. As for the stripping problem, I think that was just the cheap hub and lockring, well at least I hope so.

I've got two wheelsets that have O8 hubs and I'm 99% certain they are just rebranded Formulas.

Bikes: 8 bikes - one for each day of the week!

I'm sure they all come out of the same factory in Taiwan.

Even though you got one within two or three responses, this thread will keep going for at least a month.
