Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Are you going to study on your ride home from school? It takes a lot of eating and a lot of sleeping to sustain 250mi / week. Good luck Champ.
It is to some degree. I am riding all in town miles right now at 79gi. That is a lot of accelerating and decelerating. When i start commuting to school I will probably get a smaller cog, likely a 14t.

I'm looking forward to it. Can't wait to get even stronger and healthier. Just signed up for a gym so I can lift weights and swim. Taking boxing. Starting to switch my diet over to more organic raw foods. Going to be a good semester.
Your everyday school commute is five times the length of my commute and twice the length of San Francisco.
Damn!

I ride 48x16 on 23c tires, and it comes out to 78.8GI, not 81. Either way, it's not a hard gear to push.

Not to venture off topic though. Bullhorns are nice bars, but I don't think you need to spend tons of money on nittos or anything like that. Just pick up some eight inch bars off ebay for $25
