Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Bikes: A little of everything

Helmet
Lights
Floor pump
Portable pump
Patches
Tire levers
Multitool
Chain whip
Lockring tool

I think that's it

Ditch the portable pump and patches for better tires.

And locks(plural).

White belt.
Girl jeans.
A sweet 'Mess' bag.
A six pack of PBR tallboys.
Some obscure music by a band no one has ever heard of for your ipod.

I think that's about it. Welcome to the world of fixed gears.

you can get by without a chain whip or lockring tool, if you want to switch a cog, just tell your lbs to do it for like $4

portable pump may not be so necessary at the beginning

HELMET is a must

Get a lower gear ratio. Have a bike shop look it all over. Think about some better pedals, maybe better saddle. +1 on the other list. also pick up a spare tube and some chain lube if you have neither.

He only gets the privilege of donning those items if he gets in.

forgot the 15mm wrench to remove the wheels.

be prepared to true the wheels too, the cheaper wheels usually need some touching up from BD.

Hahahaha!

I take it that you have never owned tools before. Because if you have, you will know that people hate when you borrow a tool more than once.

Well in that case you'll need a sweet cycling cap and some rapha, a U-lock holster, or jeans with appropriately u-lock sized rear pocket, and some tattoos.
