Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

New to Fixed Gears and Bikes in General

I just recently got into riding fixed gears and bought a Mercier Kilo TT off of Bikes Direct. I already got new tires and everything I'm just wondering if anyone could just tell me everything I need to know about bikes. Any information is good, I just want to learn more about fixed gears. I find them simple and intriguing and hope that you all could help me get acquainted with the biking world. Anything helps!

Wow guy. Lets be tough and cool on the interwebz cause in real life I have no backbone.

Chris. Hi. Paruse the forum. Don't post basic help me threads, 10000 people already did it and we are tired of answering those questions.

jesus. so much hostility here lately.

@Chris, don't be discouraged, but yeah, read more, ask less. Plenty of info here already. I know searching and sifting through pages sounds like a pain in the ass, but it'll be good for you. You'll get your learn on quick.

ChrisKelly, I suggest that you read everything on this website: https://sheldonbrown.com/home.html

That should keep you busy for a few days. Check back if you have any specific questions that aren't covered on that site.

I'm going to lock this thread as it will likely just turn into a mess.
