Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Seriously, I think of nothing more than sprinting on that thing until my legs feel like jello. I thought about bundling up and going outside, but the wind is too harsh. I don't want my 12lb bike to fly away and get caught in a tree. (Idk if it really weighs 12 lbs)

Well. An interesting welcome to a forum newbie, for sure.

The rear brake that came with this bike is indeed a piece of crap. It broke. Most definitely due to my ignorance, but still. I might fix it somewhere down the line, but I'll be riding fixed in parking lots until Bikeisland delivers my Tektro front brake.

My dad-in-law was just here for dinner and my wife showed him the other thread that flip-flops between the two pics. We all literally laughed until we cried.

Holy ****...you guys are the best.

Dude, she got any sisters? I'm married, but SOMEBODY posting to this thread is in dire straits...and not the band, either. That pic is now my wallpaper...this is starting to get out of hand.

im looking for a bike for my daugther and she really wants a fixed gear bike....im not familiar with the bike but i know the only reason why she wants one is that all her friends are getting into it....not planning on spending alot of money so i started searching and came across this website https://www.bigshotbikes.com.......has anyone heard of this brand, is it any good for a starter?

Kilo TT from Bikesdirect or BikeIsland Frameset (same frame).

They are cheaper and made of 4130 chromoloy steel, which is lighter AND stiffer than the sh*t hi-ten offered by bigshot.

Sure, you get color options from bigshot, but in the end with the same price, you can get a better frameset and upgrade/customize parts on your own.

Just stay away from bigshot.

Other options are IRO, 1/8th inch, Swobo, and other bikedirect options. I believe they are all made of the better 4130 chromoly.

OUch, bigshotbikes have some redonkulous colors. Frame only comes in bright red, blue, yellow, or orange?? HAHAHA. You might as well get it for the colorchoice, since she's probably only getting into it b/c all her friends are doing it. Chances of her sticking to it is pretty slim.
