Soft bartape?

I'm used to Oury grips, but just got my B135's and need some bar tape.

Is there any good "Ouryish"/"Oury rubber feel" tape out there?

Look into fizik microtex soft touch its my favorite ever, puts almost all bartape Ive previously owned to shame. This type of stuff has a lot to do with personal preference, however this fizik tape is soft and really nice to the touch, and looks nice.

If you really want your bar tape to feel more like grips, slice open an old inner tube (the long way) and wrap your bars with that first, then cover it with some Lizard Skins bar tape.

For real. There's an older raodie who frequently gets his bike tuned up at the shop where I'm a tech who swears by it and it seems super comfy.

You can cut up some Oury grips and stuff em up your drop bar with a glue or something. It's been done.

If done cleanly I feel like this could be pretty wild.

It's good stuff. Super grippy and feels nice on your hands even when it's wet (and it looks cool). With a layer of inner tube wrapped underneath it like I mentioned earlier, road vibration can barely be felt. I'm most likely going to wrap my bars like that soon.

Specialized do a gel padding that goes under the tape, and have gel lined tape, that is super thick.

"Specialized do a gel padding that goes under the tape"

My Specialized Roubaix came so equipped. After two years, the gel is still somewhat cushy.

I have the microtex soft touch on my bars, and while it does feel pretty smooth and looks good, it's not exactly cushy... plus it's kind of a PITA to wrap, since it's not exactly flexible. I go through waves of love/hate with it.

The most comfortable tape i've used so far is Planet Bike Comfort Gel. It's relatively cheap too.

I've been pretty happy with Specialized bar tape, and I'm sure the Bar Phat would make it all the cushier. Just remember that you will really have to work hard to get anything close to the Oury feel with bar tape.

I haven't had any issues wrapping with it.. But I will vouch for the it's not cushy, not cushy at all, but still comfortable for me, oddly enough.

I too will have to try lizard skins wrap, never seen that before.

And These guys sell silicone 'tubes' for road bikes, which is pretty comfy from what I've heard. thicker than track grips, and lengthier as well. But it does come with a price tag.

For some reason this made me laugh.

You could always get two of these Suelo Tubos and cut them to the appropriate length if necessary:

Although it is really nasty to remove. When I unwrapped my old Langster's stock drop bars, and the gel was coming everywhere, I was like "What the hell is this?!"

[Edit] "and the gel was coming everywhere"

lol @ my engrish
