It's slammed. I did that to see what 10mm of spacers looks like on top, cause that's what my fork specs call for. It doesn't look too bad.

Looks like you have more than that on top of the stem, though, right? 27.5mm?

Yes... There is a total of 35mm in spacers. In the backyard photo, it was 10mm above and 25mm below, to get an eyeball on what 10mm looks like. It was slammed since, with all 35mm above. I left that much on just in case.

35 on top is ok? I've read 25 was max. I figured you were waiting to cut the steerer before slamming. (I realize this topic is a can of worms - apologies).

Centurion Super Le Mans
Bought the frameset and crankset NOS from Citizen Chain in SF. super nice guys.
funky geometry, 63 st 56 tt but it works for my looooong legs/short torso...plus moustache bars extend out more than other bars.
rack by cetma. super cool dude, made it somewhat custom for no extra charge.
recently added the barend shifters, from downtube friction. omg friction sucks what was i thinking lol but they were pretty arabesque levers but o wellz.
700 x 38c ritchey tires. slow but great on the crap roads and easy dirt trails.
my vintage psuedo-cyclocross dirt/grass tourer grocery getter. i dunno what it is but its fun albeit heavy/slow

Centurion Comp TA
This was my dad-in-laws bike when he raced. He cant ride this anymore because hes in his 60s and its just not comfortable. So i built him a vintage Stumpjumper (its the 25th anniversary reissue Stumpjumper frameset, built recently but very similar to the first Stumpjumper) two Christmas's ago, which he rides all the time since its got a much more comfortable, upright riding position.
Its a fun, fast ride, but downtube friction shifting takes allot more concentration (for me anyway)

Fresh Garbage
want. I like that little bag a lot. I have wanted to put a handle bar bag on my Fuji but then I would need to change to aero brake levers. No love for friction?

That's a lovely Centurion illdthedj Made even more special by the family history.
Regarding the friction shifters, they're one of the lost arts of cycling. There is magic in a fast, silent shift

dat Merckx...so hot. Gotta say though, I think it needs white bar tape and gumwall tires to achieve maximum pro status.

friction? it just feels like the most work lol im lazy...riding fast one handed crouched down to fine tune downtube friction shifters is definitely a little more difficult for me, especially in traffic but im keeping the red centurion friction and i still like riding it that way...moreso on the bike trails that are nicer concrete.
i would probably enjoy the manual tuning of friction more if it was barends...or even stem mounted lol
