What makes you say they are linear pull levers? The box wasn't labelled v-brake, they have a cable release button, and they work quite well with my cantis.

Been a few years since i've posted here, just wanted to share my excitement at having built my first geared bicycle.
2001 Giant TCR One, Tiagra group. minus points for tire labels not matching up to valves but I have never in my life had a more difficult time mounting a tire (2 guys with 4 levers required!).

I wasn't a fan of the salsa bell lap bars that came stock because they are super wide and annoying riding in traffic. I always wondered how a geared bike with bullhorns would work. So far so good for cruising around and commuting
