Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

@cc700 hey im thinking about getting a 54cm saeco r4000 but the thing that makes me hesitant is the long-ish seat tube. yours is a 52 right? how does the bike fit you?

presuming your talkin 2 me
im 5'6 an i probaly should hav a bigger bike but i realy lov the time, and i dont realy think the seat height effects the ride at all, yes 52 and ive realy never had the chance to compare any other bikes but the previous bike i had was a Avanti Sprint W sora 8 Speed lol and as you can imagine this is a seriously big step up. On the seat post it has a line for maximum insertion and the clamp is only about 10cm below that line
hope this helps

Took it for its first real ride yesterday. QUITE the workout.
I have that same bike. Mines all original still. Sweet ride.

two of my three bikes are long, and i like them that way.

if you wanted to look fancy, you should have cropped out the cockpit of the driveside shot and claimed it was an ultegra triple.

this, also @longjohns:

old cdales also tend to be tall in the larger sizes. meaning:

my 90 crit is 60cm st with 56.5cm tt
my old 91 road was a 60cm as well but the tt was almost 58cm

I picked up the saeco and it's sweet! It is a taller bike. Top tube fits but seat tube is a little tall.

thats a pretty serious spacer stack. a sloping top tube would be better.
