I'd like to think some of the disdain comes from genuine concern for the potential buyer... not wanting them to get a bad first impression of single speed 700c bikes because of a crappy WalMart bike.
However, I actually think it has more to do with the fact that they're afraid they won't be the only kid on their block with a track-esque bike anymore... OR that they'll be seen as "less cool" because you can get a bike similar to the one they ride at WalMart.
Personally, I couldn't give a **** less about what kind of bike WalMart sells, or who buys it, or what people think when they see me riding down the road and wonder if I got my bike at Wally World.
I just hope that WalMart starts selling 700c tires and tubes so if I ever get a flat at 2AM on sunday I can get a spare.

Walmart's in my area sell them! I just get scared about the quality.

its just like skateboarding, you spend 130 bucks on a board and you're at the park and see some guy on a cheap0 one, i don't get mad..i just think he may be less fortunate than me. Everyone has their own level of "expensive" so maybe that's all he could get, so i understand and respect that.

Nice to see common sense surviving in the snobbish cacophony that is BFSSFG.

OK! I saw one today! One of my co-workers ordered it two days ago and got it today. It looks amazingly good for the low price. 48 spoke wheels, flip flop rear hub. Frame size is 54 cm center bb to top of seat tube, if I recall correctly. It has a high bb so the stand over is like a 57 or 58 cm bike. He is out riding it right now and I am sure that he will give a first hand report soon, on this forum. I'm a bit of a bike snob myself, but I must say, this bike looks OK. Time will tell if it holds up, I'll keep an eye on it.

Oh, and the shipping - 37 lbs shipping weight. Those who said it has nothing to do due with true weight are correct. It's dimensional weight. At least for UPS it is something like [dimensional weight = length x height x width in inches divided by 198]
