Normally I think Adriano is just a hater, but I'm kind of inclined to agree. Most bike thieves steal bikes based on which is the easiest to steal, so tape is unlikely to deter them. As far as keeping your bike in showroom condition? I suppose to each their own. I think my Madison looks beautiful as well, but I bought it to ride it and love it. Eventually it will acquire scads more scratches and dings that it currently has. While it won't look pristine, I imagine it will still look beautiful--just well loved.

Why? It's a non-adhesive vinyl tape that only adheres to itself. It's easy to apply and remove. Newer Madison's have beautiful but cheap paint jobs, I had a few nicks within the first day of riding it. The tape also makes the bike a little less appealing to thieves. Bike theft is a serious problem in Chicago.

I just ordered the Burgundy 2010 Mad also. Should have it soon.
Already bought the Vittorio White tires for it. And thinking about the Deda chrome drop handlebar, but I want to try the stock one first.
I am in the Chicago area too Dutchess.
