Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

So what's your point? It isn't like there's some kind of way cool bike the OP can buy that is going to satisfy everybody here. I suppose he could buy some sort of mega-bucks uberbike but then we'd just mock him for having a better bike than he deserves.

Thanks for the kind words.

Aisle3: I'm planning on raising it; i'm looking at a lot of other peoples setups and they are higher than the bars considerably. Not on level planes like mine is =\

Just a general guideline to keep in mind :
You should not be able to stand your foot on the ground while your butt is still in the seat.
i.e. In order to stop, you have to get out of the seat and stand over the bike (track stands aside).

You might see commuters sitting at traffic lights with their butt planted in the seat and their foot planted on the ground (since it's "more convenient" not to have to get out of the seat), but it's way more efficient and comfortable to pedal when you're fitted properly (and won't cause weird pains when you bike for more than a mile at a time).

Your leg should look like this at the bottom:

You can probably find some detailed fitting guides online or ask a LBS to do a proper fitting for you if you're uncertain.
