This thread had its climax when the OP installed the track cog on his hub with loctite and added a BB lockring.

What followed after that... shouldn't have existed.

fixed cog on freewheel improperly named as suicide hub, that is the only problem here.
its been pointed out its doable and doable safely. shutup and move on.
seriously weve had a few knowledgable people point out that its double plus sheldon brown. so shutup

Ok ill take off my engineering hat now and return to eating popcorn and watching threads about poop eh
I was worried about that,.....but i'm pretty sure the outside of the steel dura ace cog got the full temp (or close anyway),.....and the hub quite a bit less as it's much larger/thicker,....etc. Heating gold jewelery parts to solder them over 35 years gives you a pretty good feel. Aluminum is a great conductor of heat, and based on how hard it was to unthread the cog i probably never got it near full temp. That's what i was going for, anyway. Keeping the wheel on my lap kept the cog to the top, and heat rises as we all know,.....so further support to my feeling that the hub threads were less impacted.

By directing the flame into the cog toward the center of the hub (air space), i'm thinking the hub threads were nearer 400 degrees,....still not prefered,.. but this was on an old schwinn hub with mavic rim with not a great deal of value anyway. That's why i decided to NOT ty this on my dura ace HF-7261 hub!

With the newly applied red permatex and full curing (in another 6 hrs),.....the thread's temper hardness have less impact than if they were holding on a regular freewheel 'sans" locking compound. I'll run the wheel see what happens!

In any case,.....i think it's worthwhile to find out. I do wish i hadn't worried about including a lockring with the initial setup,......as i would have gotten the chainline perfect and had no need to remove the cog.

Practically speaking though,.......cogs wear out so EVENTUALLY you'll be faced with having to remove one. I hope my method of removal help others to do it with the least impact on spokes and hub.

I think it's more idiotic to continue to sit and read through a thread you already feel "sucks". :-)

Even funnier is your use of the word "punctuational",....which is the wrong tense.

".......****ing idiots who can't spell or use proper punctuation...." would make more sense.

So according to your definition,......who's the ****ing idiot?

BTW,....your whole diatribe is a run on sentence with NO punctuation used!

Let me help you.......

This is how you, (commenting on english grammar), should have written your thoughts.

Nothing upsets me more when I read than people who use ellipses as periods. I feel justified in skipping it, knowing that it clearly can't be worth my time.

Cool. In the meantime, the rest of us will try to steer people toward doing it right the first time.

Amazing to thing you've been functionally illiterate for 55+ years now.

You're older than my dad. I was born in 1980.

Fwiw, I am amused that my joke post about grammar and punctuation was critiqued by a guy who completely misused the ellipsis and comma in his critique. Especially since my post, if anything, was made in defense of him. That's the interwebs for you.

Psychic powers not required. Subtlety detector? Yes... Required.

Furthermore, I do not think lax means what you think it means. I think the word you want is lacking. As for your styling, it may not have always been dated, but it's always been wrong.
