Whats wrong with Powerspline BBs?

Whats wrong with Powerspline BBs?

So Im looking at getting a cheap-o fixed gear. Standard fare, BD Kilo TT (stripper in Raw), Windsor the Hour, I kind of like the Moto Messenger as well.

I would jump straight in for the Kilo but the BB/Crankset are throwing me off. Ive read a couple powerspline reviews and they didnt look like the greatest, and I would def prefer square taper, but I dont really have too much choice. I love the geo and the athestics of the Kilo TT but I just need someone to tell me a powerspline BB wont fail on me immediately, because I cant afford a new BB/Crankset combo right out of the box.

I was also looking at the Swobo Folsom, more as a platform to build a MTB up on, but their newest picture looks like their frame from a couple years ago (no disc mounts/fender mounts) and those were the main things drawing me to the frame.

Sorry for the generic "what bike should I get" thread. any tips on a sub-$500 bike would be appreciated.

I've been riding the same set of Truvativ Touros that came stock on my Kilo (now on my Madison) for over a year now and have never had even the slightest problem with either the crankset or BB. I mash like a mother****er too.

Are they Powerspline or square taper? I recently picked up a pair that were square taper.
